SCHOOL IS IN SESSION WITH THE FALL REDFISH SPAWN

In early October, slot redfish begin to show up in schools on grass flats, jetties, and shore lines along the Gulf Coast. The water temperature has dropped after cool fronts moved through the area. A nice change from the boiling August heat. It is the first sign that redfish mayhem is about to kick off in Orange Beach, AL. Around the 3rd week in October, the shores along the beach are covered with bait. Pelicans and gulls can be seen diving any direction you look. THE STAGE HAS BEEN SET.

LATE OCTOBER THROUGH NOVEMBER BRING WAVES OF BULL REDFISH SPAWNING AND DEVOURING BAIT BALLS ALONG THE BEACH. IT IS NOT UNCOMMON TO SEE 200-1000 REDFISH AT ONE TIME.

This is, by far, one of the most memorable times to fish throughout the year! Once a school is found, it doesn't take long to hook into one of these giant redfish. We throw BIG two ounce hair jigs and extra large grubs to get their attention.

Fishing the cold months for speckled trout can be a lot of fun for avid anglers. Due to the cold blooded biology of fish, as the water temperatures drop the trout move to deep water and mud flats. This gives anglers the chance to hook quality trout in the backwaters of Orange Beach, AL. It is a different style of fishing, in contrast to the shallow coastal grass flats we pick apart throughout summer.

One of the best attributes to trout fishing, especially in winter, is the ability to use artificials. Lightly weighted weedless flukes or a quarter ounce jig head paired with a paddle tail will draw fish in, giving anglers a great sense of satisfaction not felt with other methods.
